Pakistan has reported 2,400 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, marking the fifth day less than 3,000 infections were detected, as the positivity rate dropped below five per cent for the second time this week.

The country had recorded a positivity rate of 4.9pc on Wednesday when 2,465 cases were detected.

Moreover, 33 more people died in the last 24 hours, down from 40 a day earlier.

The countrywide breakdown is as follows:

  • Sindh: 914 cases, 4 deaths
  • Punjab: 513 cases, 15 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 741 cases, 10 deaths
  • Balochistan: 24 cases
  • Islamabad: 84 cases
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 11 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 113 cases, 4 deaths
