Pakistan has confirmed 48 more deaths from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest daily death toll since October 4 when 54 fatalities were recorded.

In addition, 6,377 new cases have been reported, up from 5,830 a day earlier, while the national positivity rate stands at 9.9 per cent.

The countrywide breakdown is as follows:

  • Sindh: 1,779 cases, 20 deaths
  • Punjab: 2,031 cases, 18 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,258 cases, 8 deaths
  • Balochistan: 77 cases
  • Islamabad: 615 cases, 1 death
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 46 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 571 cases, 1 death
