RAWALPINDI: Young artists showcased their paintings at a group exhibition held at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Saturday.

The exhibition was jointly organised by the RAC and VSCOPK with an aim to provide a platform to young artists. Naheed Manzoor and RAC Director Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition.

Artists who participated in the exhibition were Reja Amber, Ramisha Ajmal, Zainab Waheed, Areba Shaheen, Mohammad Ali Farooq, Fatima Afzal, Afifa Raja, Maryam Zahid, Nadia Yaseen, Mahnoor

Naz, Noorul Ain, Amina Malik and Hina Qadir.

More than 50 art pieces were put on display. The artists used different mediums to express their talent, including Islamic calligraphy, culture, mountains, plains and lush gardens.

Addressing the function, Naheed Manzoor said colours of nature were prominent in the pictures and all the artists had portrayed a positive face of Pakistan.

She said the works were simple but impressive. “They chose different mediums and colours which showed their maturity,” Ms Manzoor said, adding that, “we need to get our children involved in formal education as well as informal activities”.

RAC Director Waqar Ahmed said: “Works by young artists were excellent, and would improve over time.”

Chief Executive Officer of VSCOPK Mian Afzal Javed said the purpose of the exhibition was to provide a platform to young artists to showcase their creativity.

In the end, the artists were awarded shields of appreciation.
