KARACHI: The Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) has received a total of 11,000 applications for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes at the close of the admissions portal on Jan 20.

The JSMU launched the portal on Jan 4 as the focal institution for admissions to private medical and dental colleges and varsities in Sindh.

The total MBBS and BDS seats are 1,940 in private medical colleges and universities across Sindh.

The scrutiny of applications is under way and the list of eligible students for admission will be released on Jan 25 after which a preliminary merit list will be issued soon.

The candidates are advised to check the JSMU website for the list and announcements.

“The university will uphold its traditions of transparency and merit in the admission process. It will follow the instructions by the Sindh government according to which priority will be given to the students of Sindh,” said acting JSMU vice chancellor Prof Shahid Rasul.

The government had instructed the JSMU to invite applications from candidates scoring 50 per cent and above marks in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).

The university stated that students who have submitted their applications and want to make any corrections in their records or documents can do so at the portal within two days.
