ISLAMABAD: As many as 14 land grabbers have been arrested during an operation against land mafia operating in the city.

Upon receiving a complaint, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamran Amir Khan directed the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Bhara Kahu to take action against suspected land grabbers. As a result, 11 people were arrested and a large number of weapons seized from them.

Another citizen told Banigala police that some suspects were trying to occupy his land and resorted to firing in the air. Police rushed to the scene and arrested three suspects and recovered weapons from their possession.

Meanwhile, five drug peddlers have been arrested during raids in different locations. Cases have been registered against the suspects and investigation was underway.

IGP Younas has appreciated the police’s performance and directed them to intensify this crackdown. “No one would be allowed to play with the precious lives of citizens,” he added.
