LAHORE: The PPP held a demonstration against inflation and unemployment outside the press club here on Friday.

The demonstration was organised by the party’s central Punjab and Lahore chapters on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

The party workers raised slogans against the price hike and joblessness. They demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan’s resignation for failing to protect the poor.

PPP information secretary Shehzad Cheema, Punjab women wing president Samina Khalid Ghurki, deputy information secretary Faisal Mir, Azizur Rehman Chan and other speakers said the government was incompetent as it had done nothing except telling lies to the media. They said the ‘selected’ rulers could not control price hike and joblessness and they would have to go.

Meanwhile, PPP Central Punjab president Raja Pervaiz Ashraf visited the election office of the party nominee for NA-133 by-poll Chaudhry Aslam Gill.

Talking to the activists, he said an election office would be opened in each union council of the constituency.

General secretary Hassan Murtaza said that an election campaign for the by-polls would be formally launched on Saturday (today).

SAHIWAL: The PPP held a protest rally and march in the city against inflation and price hike during the PTI tenure.

The PPP office-bearers, including Zaki Chaudhry, the district president, led the rally, which ended at Saddar Chowk.

Different small rallies moved inside different bazaars of the city before getting together at the Mazdoor Puli. The main rally was joined by six motorcycle rallies from the areas of the city.

BAHAWALPUR: The PPP took out two rallies in the district.

According to PPP district information secretary Malik Shah Muhammad Channar, the first rally was brought out from Chowk Bazaar near Masjid Al-Sadiq after the Friday prayers and its participants paraded through Shahi Bazaar to reach Farid Gate.

The PPP local leaders made speeches.

The second rally was taken out from Noorpur Noranga, about 30km from here on Bahawalpur-Ahmedpur East road. It went up to Musafirkhana where the PPP leaders held a corner meeting and criticized government for price hike.

OKARA: Hundreds of PPP activists took to the streets against price hike of utility and eatable items.

The workers were carrying flexes and banners inscribed with slogans against the government for its failure to control profiteers.
