NAROWAL: Five robbers allegedly kidnapped a teenage daughter of a labourer and took away gold ornaments and cash from his house at Mohallah Islamabad of Shakargarh tehsil of Narowal district.

According to Muhammad Tariq, a labourer by profession, five unidentified masked men entered his house at 8am on Oct 26 after seeing the door open. They locked the entire family in a room and took four-tola gold ornaments and Rs40,000 from the family.

While leaving, they abducted Tariq’s 14-year-old daughter Anush.

Tariq said his daughter, a 10th class student at the Government Girls High School, Shakargarh, was getting ready to go to school when the robbers forcibly took her away.

He said the suspects had locked his family in a room before leaving.

The Shakargarh City police station registered an FIR against Mohsin Riaz and four unidentified men.

Tariq said he did not know suspect Riaz, named in the FIR and added that the motorcycle on which the suspects had come to his house was registered in the name of Riaz.

Shakargarh DSP Malik Khalil claimed no robbery had taken place and the girl had left her home on her own. He said the police were trying to recover the girl.
