LAHORE: President Yahya Khan has taken an ad hoc decision under which the supplies from Chashma storage will be distributed equally between the Punjab and Sind after meeting the comparatively small requirements of NWFP from Paharpur canal. This purely temporary measure would, however, be applicable to the coming Rabi crop only and until such time as the Government issues final orders on the recommendations of Fazle Akbar Committee, which are due by the end of November.

According to a Press release of the West Pakistan WAPDA, the President has also decided that this ad hoc decision “will not be quoted by or before the Committee or elsewhere in support of any fact or argument so that the deliberations or the Fazle Akbar Committee may proceed without being prejudiced”.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies in Rawalpindi,] Two Indian aircraft sneaked across our borders violating Pakistan air space on the morning of Oct 13 near Moghalhat in East Pakistan and strafed Pakistan border troop positions, it was officially stated here... . The official statement said there were no casualties and described the violation as “yet another provocative action by the Indian armed forces”.
