Man shot, injured in Rs1m heist

ISLAMABAD: Robber shot and injured a man during a Rs1 million robbery on Wednesday, police said.

Besides, culprits looted cash and valuables worth millions of rupees in 10 strikes in capital.

In the first incident, Abdul Rehman, a resident of Fatehjang came to capital to buy a vehicle along with his cousin.

He was carrying an amount of Rs1 million and hired a vehicle at Pirwadhai Mor for his destination.

When they reached I.J. Principal Road located in the area of Shams Colony police station, two armed robbers came on a motorcycle and intercepted him and tried to snatch the amount.

When Abdul Rehman resisted, one of the robbers opened fire on him and as a result he suffered bullet injury in his leg, the police said, adding shortly the gunmen snatched the cash from him and fled towards Mandi Mor.

Later, the injured was shifted to a hospital in an ambulance where he was given medical assistance.

In another incident, thieves stole cash and ornaments worth Rs2.5 million from the house of Saira Khan in F-11/1, the police said.

The victim suspected that housemaids might have been involved in the crime, they added.

Cash and ornaments worth Rs1 million were also stolen from another house of Sohail Naseem in F-10/1, the police said.

Furthermore, a gang of robbers looted cash and valuables worth Rs100,000 from a house in G-10/2, they said, adding that four armed men entered the house of Gul Nawaz and held the residents at gunpoint and fled with the cash and valuables, the police said.

In another robbery, the culprits snatched cash and mobile phone from a man, they said, adding two gunmen intercepted Baseer Ahmed when he reached I.J. Principal Road and snatched the cash and mobile phone worth Rs85,000 from him and escaped.

Moreover, thieves stole a mobile phone worth Rs200,000 from Arsalan Tahir’s car parked in G-9.

A mobile phone worth Rs22,000 was snatched from Ghour Habib on I.J. Principal Road, they said, adding that the thief intercepted him when he reached there and snatched the mobile phone at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, four vehicles were also stolen from different areas of capital, police said.

Auto-thieves stole a Mehran car from I-9/4, a Honda 125 motorcycle from G-7/4, a Power 70 motorcycle from a parking area of a university in H-11 and a High Speed motorcycle from outside a hotel in F-11/3.
