PESHAWAR: The department of mechanical engineering, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, showcased 45 projects during the final year project exhibition 2021 here on Tuesday.

The graduating students presented their final year projects. The exhibition was organised by the department of mechanical engineering under the supervision of its chairman Prof Rizwan Gul.

The exhibited projects ranged from conceptual nature to state-of-the-art solutions in emerging fields of engineering and technology, a press release said.

UET Vice-chancellor Prof Iftikhar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that department of mechanical engineering was active in research in various areas. He urged the faculty to enhance collaboration with industry. He inspected the projects and praised the efforts of the graduating students for their innovative ideas. He urged them to publish papers in the peer-reviewed publications.

Prof Rizwan Gul said on the occasion that final year project was a regular feature of mechanical engineering. He appreciated the industry for participating and giving presentations to the graduating students about the latest trends, challenges and possibilities for linkage with academia.

He urged the government to introduce policies to encourage linkage between university and industry and bridge the gap between both the sectors. He appreciated the efforts of the convener of project exhibition committee, Dr Nasru Minallah and director ORIC for holding a successful project exhibition in collaboration.

Prof Rizwan Gul also appreciated the efforts of Dr Zeeshan Zahir and evaluation committee including Dr Izharul Haq from department of mechatronics engineering, Dr Masood Ahmed from department of mechanical engineering and Dr Kamran Shah from department of mechatronics engineering.

Amongst the best project awards, the first prize was won by the students for the project “Analysis of suspended gas pipelines for identification of safer span length” supervised by Dr Naveedullah, second prize was given to the project “Technical and economic feasibility of low cost measurement device for domestic LPG cylinder” supervised by Dr Naveed Ahmed while third prize was won by the project “Seed planter” supervised by Prof Afzal Khan.
