TAXILA: At least three people died while two others sustained injuries after an accidental explosion occurred in one of the plants of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) on Thursday evening, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The explosion occurred due to some technical fault during routine operation of a plant. The injured have been shifted to POF Hospital, Wah Cantt.

The technical emergency response team at the POF — which is the country’s premier defence production industrial complex stationed in Wah Cantt — has been cleared by the authorities concerned at the accidental site and the situation is under control.

The windows of nearby buildings in residential areas especially Lalarukh, Lalazar, Shah Wali Colony and Gulshan Colony were shattered by the intensity of the blast, said local police sources.
