ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued rules for prize schemes for those who shop at big retailers, integrated with the computerised system of the tax machinery.

The rules were notified through a notification SRO1005 of 2021 released on Wednesday. The government has come up with an incentive scheme to encourage the shoppers for documentation of sales tax of big retailers.

The draw for the prizes will be held in the first week of every month starting from August 2021 at the FBR headquarters and the invoices of the immediately preceding month will be entered in the draw.

The scheme will apply to customers of tier-1 retailers who have integrated their outlets with the FBR computerised system for real time reporting of sales and mystery shopping in respect of verification of invoices from such retailers.

According to procedure for prize scheme, the customers of integrated tier-1 retailer, whose names and CNICs are notified through random draw will be entitled to prizes in respect of their purchases from the integrated tier-1 retailers.

The customer will verify the electronically generated invoice of integrated retailers either through tax asaan application or by sending SMS to 9966. The application will notify the customer regarding the status of invoice either as verified or unverified. In case of a verified invoice, the customer will furnish one-time detail to the online system — name and computerised national identity card (CNIC) and mobile numbers. Afterword, names and CNICs of the customers will be included in the random draw.
