KASUR: Raja Jang police on Thursday registered a case against five suspects who allegedly killed a lawyer, a woman and a man besides critically injuring another man on Wednesday night over an enmity at Mahtab Khan village.

According to complainant Maqsood Ahmed, his brother Advocate Azhar Yaseen Sani was sitting along with his clients from Kot Radha Kishan in his drawing room adjacent to his residence on Wednesday night when suspect Farooq of the same village along with four of his accomplices forced their entry into the room and opened fire. As a result, lawyer Sani, his relative Sobia Bibi and client Mushtaq were killed on the spot.

Another client, Rana Kashif, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the DHQ Hospital from where he was referred to the Lahore General Hospital.

According to some eyewitnesses, the suspects resorted to aerial firing before entering the drawing room and left the crime scene firing in the air. Receiving information, a team, led by DPO Imran Kiswar, reached the crime scene and collected evidence.

On Thursday, police lodged a case under section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and sections 302, 324, 148 and 149 of PPC against Farooq and four others. Some years back, unidentified suspects had made an attempt on the life of lawyer Sani but he had a narrow escape.

According to the first information report, Sani had got a case registered against Farooq who was arrested. Further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, on the call of the Punjab Bar Council (in the wake of two murders - one in Kasur and another in Narowal on Wednesday ), the district and tehsil bars boycotted the court proceedings on Thursday.
