RECENTLY the Sindh Public Service Commission announced the post of prosecuting deputy superintendent of police. While criminologists are also perfect for such positions, the required qualification for the post is LLB with at least a second division.

Criminologists play an important role in society and enhance the capacity of police departments in understanding crimes through research-based analytical skills.

Unfortunately, although criminologists are ideal match for policing and investigation, besides being experts in pre-sentence report preparation that helps judge decide reaching a conclusion and deciding what sentence to give, they are not being considered for the above-mentioned job.
