LAHORE, Oct 19: Faisalabad’s Panther Club snatched three precious points in Pakistan Premier Soccer League (PPSC) overcoming Lahore’s Wohaib Club 1-0 at Rawalpindi’s Army Sports Complex.
According to the information received on Wednesday by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) the first leg between two teams at Lahore on Oct 4 saw Wohaib winning 3-1.
Panther striker Asif Nawaz struck his seventh goal of the championship that may prove vital in relegation battle of the 12-team competition. He latched on to pass of winger Qurban Ali in the 40th minute score the match winner. Panther FC led 1-0 at interval.
Wohaib, knowing the importance of the match, went all out for equalizer but their front-runners failed to capitalize the chances. The match also saw plenty of rough play as seven players were booked by referee Hidayat Ullah.
Referee booked Panther’s Sana Ullah, Faooq, Wasim and Qurban Ali and Wohaib’s Altaf, Saleem and Ahmed.
Wohaib Club, finished their quota of 22 matches. They are currently 11th in the table, above Pak PWD, with 20 points with goal counts of 16-41.
Tenth-placed Panther Club have played 21 matches for their 20 points and their 22nd and final league match will be against Afghan Club of Chaman at Quetta”s Ayub Stadium on Oct 22. There will be no match on Thursday.
The final match of the event will be held on Oct 23 when Army will take on Wapda.
