LAHORE: A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped in the Shahdara area on Thursday.

According to initial police reports, the girl (A) belonged to a poor family living along the railway lines. The family claimed that three young men took the girl to a deserted building near Malik Park and raped her there.

A police official said a team had been constituted to investigate the case and trace the culprits.

About the girl, he said she would be taken to a hospital for a medical examination to confirm the allegations and added that the condition of the girl was apparently stable.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani took notice of the rape incident and sought a report from police officers concerned with directions to ensure arrest of the suspects.
