SWABI: A five-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in Ismailabad village, about one and a half kilometres from the district headquarters, Swabi, the police said on Wednesday. Swabi police station officials said the suspect was arrested, adding the medical report of the victim confirmed the assault.

District police officer Imran Shahid told Dawn that the accused identified as Shehryar Bahadar had taken the child to a deserted house on the pretext of giving him kites, and assaulted him there.

“After the assault he let the child go home. When the minor reached home he was bleeding. On inquiry by parents he told them that about the incident,” he said, adding the parents took the child to the district headquarters hospital where doctors confirmed he was sexually assaulted.

Swabi DSP Shaukat Ali told a presser that SHO Ajab Durrani traced the accused and also recovered a pistol from him. The man confessed to the crime during preliminary investigation.

The police registered FIR against him.
