ISLAMABAD: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two double murder suspects after an encounter.

The Nilore police got information about the presence of four proclaimed offenders (POs) in Dana locality. A police team raided the hideout but after seeing the police the POs opened fire on them, which was retaliated by the police. As a result, one of the POs was injured.

However, two of them managed to escape. The raiding team then arrested the injured suspect along with one of his accomplices. The injured was shifted to hospital and the other to the police station.

On April 13 last year, 10 armed men attacked the house of Zafar Mehmood located in Sihali Bain at Nilore.

The attackers resorted to indiscriminate firing, killing Zafar Mehmood and his son Mubashir Mehmood.

Zafar’s another son Mudassar got a double murder case registered in the Nilore police station. The complainant nominated seven attackers and three unidentified persons in the FIR.

The investigators arrested six of the suspects and and the remaining four were declared POs.

The police said both the groups, residents of Phulgran, have enmity which has claimed three lives - two from Zafar’s side and one from the other.
