LAHORE: A fire erupted in the paediatrics ward of the Mayo Hospital here on Sunday, forcing the administration to shift patients to other wards.

On being informed of the blaze, Rescue 1122 firefighters reached the hospital and extinguished the fire after around hour-long efforts.

Rescue officials said the fire apparently erupted on the first floor of the ward because of power short-circuiting and caught the nearby beds.

The hospital administration shifted the patients to other wards to avert any casualty.

Because of timely shifting of the patients no loss of life or injury was reported.

Meanwhile, in another fire incident reported in a shop near Ravi Road police station, valuables worth millions were reportedly gutted.
