RAHIM YAR KHAN: A man killed his wife and three minor children before committing suicide over unemployment at Chak 135-P of Pattan Minara ancient archaeological site, some 11km from here, on Friday.

According to district police spokesperson Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, the bodies of Lachmi Ram (30), Prem Kumar (13), Anjali (10) and Anika (4) were found at their home while Ram Chand (35), Lachmi’s husband, was found critically injured when neighbours broke the door of their house early in the morning.

The neighbours called police helpline and Rescue 1122 shifted Ram Chand to Shaikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) where he also succumbed to injuries when doctors were trying to save his life.

Cheema told this correspondent that the police and Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) teams had collected evidence from the crime scene. He said Ram Chand had killed his wife, son and two daughters with a sharp-edged weapon before attempting suicide.

According to local residents, Ram Chand was a tailor and was worried due to unemployment.
