RAWALPINDI: Rain and hail lashed the city on Friday, settling the dust and bringing much-awaited relief to allergy patients.

Black clouds covered the skies of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in the morning and rain started in the evening. However, the afternoon was sunny.

More rain is expected in Potohar region on Saturday while weather in most parts of the country will remain dry and hilly areas will be in grip of cold.

About 19mm rain was recorded in Chaklala and 4mm at Shamsabad in Rawalpindi.

On the other hand, rain created a slushy mess on main roads of low lying areas.

With the beginning of spring, the number of pollen patients had increased. According to doctors, though dust settles after rain, allergy patients should stay indoors as wind carries pollen and dust particles.

Viral infections like cough and flu are also expected to reduce after rain.
