LAHORE: With 543 new infections, the Covid-19 claimed 32 more lives in Punjab during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,269.

According to the new updates released on Wednesday, the number of the total confirmed cases in Punjab has reached 168,891.

Most of them – 406 – were reported from Lahore which has been at the top among other districts.

Others were reported from Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Khushab, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, Bhakar, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Chinot, Jhelum, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Khanewal, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Lodhran, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Muzaffargarh.

A spokesperson for the specialised healthcare and medical education department said keeping in view the persistent spread of the virus, the treatment facilities for the Covid-19 patients were being provided in more than 200 major hospitals across the province.
