LARKANA: A 35-year-old man, who was booked on charges of kidnapping a boy, died in mysterious circumstances in lock-up at Haidri police station on Sunday.

Sources said that Munir Solangi’s condition suddenly deteriorated in the lock-up and he was rushed to Chandka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Senior Superintendent of Police Masood Ahmed Bangash suspended SHO of Haidri police station Sajjad Bhatti in the wake of the death in police custody.

SHO of Market police station Sartaj Jagirani, who was given additional charge of Haidri said that most probably the suspect had died of heart attack.

He was arrested after Noor Mohammed Khuhawar, his grandfather, lodged an FIR against him under Sections 363 and 511 for attempting to kidnap a boy Ghulam Mustafa Khuhawar at Naudero roundabout about five days ago, he said.

He said that onlookers and passersby had caught the suspect and handed him over to police. The suspect was found in possession of three CNICs and he was kept at the police lock-up without getting remand, said sources in police.

Police surgeon Dr Rabil Noonari conducted post-mortem on the body and then it was handed over to relatives of the deceased for burial, said the additional SHO.
