Pukhina makes semis

ISLAMABAD: Russia’s Maria Pukhina defeated Iman Khan of Britain in the girls quarter-final of the Syed Dilawar & Syed Tajammul Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Juniors here at the PTF Complex on Thursday.

Pukhina overwhelmed Iman 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 in one of the most exciting matches of the day. It was the only quarter-final in both boys and girls events, which stretched to three games.

Earlier in the boys event, France’s Artiom Dorofeev beat Yakup Uzunel 7-5, 6-2 of Denmark and Dmitry Dolzhenkov of Russia overpowered Switzerland’s William Alsterback 7-5, 6-2.
