KARACHI: Burma Mohammadan club edged past Eagle Sports 1-0 in a thrilling final to win the Korangi Sports Festival football title in style here on Friday.

Mohammad Yousuf scored the winning goal in the 53rd minute as the crowd witnessed a close contest. With the football event, the highly successful Korangi Festival formally came to a close.

Commissioner Karachi Naved Ahmed Shaikh was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes among the players and the teams.

Speaking on the occasion, he said this is his third visit to a major sporting event in a month. “I am glad to be here and have directed all deputy commissioners to revive sporting culture and get rid of the all encroachments from playgrounds,” said Naved.

He disclosed that best arrangement from the government and his organisation will be provided for all sports events lined-up for Kashmir Day and for Pakistan Day on 23rd March. Commissioner Karachi also praised DC Korangi Shehryar Gul Memon for organizing the wonderful Korangi Sports Festival.

Chief festival organizer Ghulam Mohammad also spoke and requested Naved Shaikh to honour Shehryar Gul with a special performance award for arranging this great festival.

KHA’s Gulfaraz Khan, NBP’s Azmatullah, Captain Ataur Rahman Kakar and other sports personalities were also present on the occasion.
