NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Four people working for the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) were killed when gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near Mirali town in North Waziristan tribal district on Thursday.

District police officer Shafiullah Gandapur confirmed the attack on the vehicle which was proceeding from Mirali to Bannu district.

The victims’ bodies were taken to tehsil headquarters hospital in Mirali where their post-mortem examination was conducted.

Officials identified the deceased as Abid Mahmood (Abbottabad), Hassan (Dera Ismail Khan), Ahmad Syed (Gujranwala) and Noor Faraz from Mirali, North Waziristan.

They said the deceased were working as daily wage earners with the FWO.

An FIR was lodged and the area was cordoned off to trace the killers.
