PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Friday directed the relevant authorities to introduce the e-work order system for contracting development projects.

He also ordered the issuance of work orders to contractors within 10 days of the award of contracts.

The orders were issued during a meeting called to review the performance of the communication and works and irrigation departments, said a statement issued here.

The chief minister directed all departments to get PC-1s of their respective development schemes reflected in the annual development programme approved from the relevant forums by Dec 15.

He said he would held a review meeting of the entire ADP after the deadline expired and if non-compliance was found, he would ensure strict action against the officials responsible for it.

Regarding the posting and transfer of officials working on the same post for more than two years, the chief minister said no compromise would be made on the transfer of such officials.

He directed the heads of all departments to immediately transfer all such officials and submit certificates to that effect along with the lists of transferred staff.

The meeting was briefed about developmental schemes, posting and transfer of staff and other related matters of the two departments.

The meeting was told that the EOI had been invited to start practical work on Swat Expressway Phase-II project whereas PC-I of Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway project had been prepared and submitted to the P&D department, while the commercial and financial feasibility study of the project would be completed by the first week of next Dec.

Regarding the proposed Dir Motorway project, it was informed that feasibility study of the project had been awarded to the selected firm and commercial/financial study of the same would be completed by February next year.

Briefing the meeting about the progress of Irrigation department, the meeting was informed that implementation of the chief minister directives regarding removal of encroachments on River Swat was in progress and a strategy has been devised to clear River Swat of encroachments phase wise.

It was told that overall 99 encroachments of different natures were identified on River Swat and out of that 30 have been removed in the first phase and 12 in the second phase while the rest would be removed in the next phase.

Similarly, 69 encroachments have been identified on River Panjkora and notices have been issued by the district administration for their removal.

Mr Mahmood said the timely completion of developmental schemes was one of the top priority of his government and directed the high-ups of all departments to ensure physical progress on the development schemes in line with the timelines for their completion within the stipulated time.
