Giant pumpkin named ‘The Tiger King’

A 2,350-pound pumpkin called ‘The Tiger King’, is named the winning pumpkin in a competition.

Travis Gienger, of Minnesota, who grew the pumpkin, decided to enter the contest that’s known as the ‘Super Bowl of Pumpkins’ and set a record for the heaviest grown pumpkin in North America this year. He took home $16,450 in winnings for first prize in the pumpkin growing competition.

Gienger added that he named the winning pumpkin after the Netflix series, Tiger King, because he noticed it might have striped colouring.

Since 1974, growers have gathered every Columbus Day in Half Moon Bay to compete in the contest.

World’s oldest penguin is 41

A gentoo penguin at a Danish zoo was declared after having her age confirmed as over 41 years old.

Guinness said a female penguin at the Odense Zoo in Denmark is confirmed to be 41 years, 141 days old as of October of this year, earning her the world record of the oldest-living penguin in captivity.

The bird, named Olde, Danish for ‘great-grandmother,’ has lived long beyond the usual 30-year lifespan for a member of her species in captivity. In the wild, gentoo penguins typically live for 15-20 years.

Olde hatched at the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland in 1979 and has lived at the Odense Zoo since 2003.

Man bounces soap bubble 290 times

A Taiwan student broke a Guinness World Record when he was able to bounce a soap bubble 290 times on his hand before it popped.

Chang Yu-Te of Taoyuan said he became interested in bubble performance after seeing a video online of someone else attempting the record, and he started to practice for his own attempt.

Guinness tweeted a video showing Chang’s official attempt. He was able to complete 290 bounces with a single bubble, enough to capture the record.
