LAHORE: Coronavirus seems to be gradually spreading again in Punjab with every passing day.

According to official updates released on Wednesday, Covid-19 claimed six lives, while 232 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours all over the province.

Out of the new cases, 121 were reported in Lahore, 43 in Rawalpindi and 10 in Bahawalpur, while others were recorded in Multan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Bahawalnagar, Khushab Jhelum, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Jhang etc.

The total number of confirmed cases of the virus reached 103,314 and deaths 2,242 in Punjab, a health department spokesperson said.

He said that out of the total confirmed patients, 97,384 had recovered and over 1.5 million Covid-19 tests performed since the pandemic broke out in Punjab.

The provincial capital, Lahore, remained at the top of all districts by reporting the highest deaths, 917, and positive cases, 51,845, so far, followed by Rawalpindi with 388 deaths and 8,501 confirmed cases.
