GUJRANWALA: Three people were killed when a minibus rammed into a trailer carrying iron rods on Wednesday near Khayali bypass.

According to Rescue 1122, the deceased were the driver, conductor and a passenger of the minibus as the rods pierced into their bodies.

The bodies were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

SEALED: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Monday sealed 14 filling stations for selling substandard petrol, overcharging and short measurement in different parts of the region.

ACE Director Roy Naeemullah Bhatti told reports that the ACE formed different teams to check the standard, price and measurement of petrol at filling stations.

The teams checked the filling stations and sealed Ismail Petroleum Services in Kathyal Sheikhan, Al-Sadiq Petroleum in Mano Chack, Roshan Petroleum in Jonana, Roshan Petroleum in Malkwal, Hassan Filling Station, Zamindar Petroleum, Gondal Bar Filling Station, Younis Petroleum, Al Barkat Filling Station, Ali and Mohad filling station, Roshan Gujjar filling station, M Nazir filling station, Mohal fFilling station and Faisal Petroleum in Gujranwala division.

CASE: The Tatlayaali police on Monday allegedly tortured a prayer leader, a complainant in a kidnapping case.

The city police officer took notice of the incident and launched an inquiry.

Abdul Rehman, a prayer leader in a mosque of Tattayaali, told reporters that Aleem, Shaukat, Ayesha and Madeeha kidnapped his wife Tabbasum one month ago.

A case was registered with Tatlayaali police station but the police could not recover his wife. On Sunday, he went to the police station to ask about his wife where a sub-inspector and constables tortured him. As a result he was injured seriously and got a medicolegal certificate. The MLC proved tortured on him.

He submitted an application to the city police officer for action against the police. On his application, the CPO took notice and set an inquiry.
