BISE Inter-school sports start

LAHORE, Sept 26: The first Punjab Chief Minister Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Inter-school sports for boys and girls started on Monday. The three-day competitions are being held on knockout basis and all the eight boards of the province have sent their champion teams.

The total cash prize for the winners, runners-up and third position holders is Rs8.5 million.

The boys are participating in hockey, football and athletics while girls in basketball, volleyball and athletics.

HOCKEY: Four matches were decided at the National Hockey Stadium and the winners entered the semifinals.

A hat trick by Mohammad Haroon helped Government Model High School, Vehari beat Comprehensive High School, Dera Ghazi Khan 7-0.

Mohammad Umar Hayat, Khalid Manzoor, Mohammad Yousuf Raza and Zeeshan Ali struck a goal each.

The winners led the first-half 3-0.

Government High School, Satellite Town, Bahawalpur scored a 3-1 win over Government M C High School, Gojra after taking 1-0 lead at the interval.

For the winners, Mehmood Naseer (2) and Khurram Shahzad (1) were the scorers. Mujahid Arshad scored for Gojra.

Three goals by Imran Sarfraz enabled Government Jamia High School, Sargodha to outclass Government High School, Natrila, 12-0.

The winners gained 6-0 lead at the halftime.

Imran Abbas, Aamir Shahzad and Abbas scored two goals each while Usman bin Tahir, Muhammad Shafi and Gulfam chipped in with a goal each.

Two goals each by Muhammad Imran and Mohammad Fayyaz steered Government Model High School, Model Town, Lahore to 5-0 win against Government High School, Sialkot.

The winners grabbed 3-0 lead at the halftime. Sanam Abbas Gul scored the remaining one goal.

FOOTBALL: Four matches were played at the Government College for Physical Education grounds and the winners entered the pre-finals.

Two goals by Umair Khan helped Central Model High School, Mianwali beat MH Sufi High School Kot Ishaq, Hafizabad 3-1.

The winners scored all the three goals in the first-half while the losers scored the consolation goal in the second-half.

Umair scored his first goal in the 17th minute. Asif Raza doubled the lead in the 27th minute before Umair banged home his second in the 29th minute.

Safeer reduced the margin in the 54th minute.

The solitary goal of the match scored by Kifayat Ullah Khan in the second minute helped Government High School Suichaniwali beat Government High School, Shahdara 1-0.

Two goals each by Qamar (18th, 39th minute) and Arsalan (45, 52nd minute) helped MC High School, Mianwali beat Government High School, Chishtian 5-0.

Arshad (47th minute) was the other scorer.

Government High School Choa Khalsa, Tehsil Kalar beat Government High School, 199, JB, Faisalabad 2-0.

Hashmat (11th minute), Shoaib (17th minute) were the scorers.

BASKETBALL (Girls): Four matches were held at the Government Physical Education for Women and the winners made the last four.

Government High School No 1, Chakwal beat Girls Pilot Secondary School, Sargodha 37-20 after leading 16-10 at the halftime.

Tehmina (21) and Zaiba (10) were the main scorers for the winners while Samina (8) and Shaheena (6) reduced the margin for the losers.

FJ Girls High School, Sheikhupura outplayed Government High School, Haroonabad 22-17 after taking 10-5 lead at the halftime.

Kashifa (13) and Nabeela (6) were the major contributors for the winners while Shagufta (11) was the top-scorer for the losers.

Government High School, Sahiwal defeated Government High School No 1, Dera Ghazi Khan 32-18.

For Multan, Furrukh (20) and Rabia (10) were the key scorers.

Humaira (10) and Nadia (6) excelled for the losers.

In the last match, Government High School, 202 RB, Gatti, Faisalabad beat Government High School, 34-16. Asma (12) and Sadaf (9) scored for the winners.

Zakia (10) fought well for the losers.

VOLLEYBALL: Three matches were decided at the Government Physical Education for Women and the winners qualified for the semifinals.

Government High School, No 1 Chakwal beat Government High School, Ludgrah, Muzaffargarh 25-8, 25-4.

Government High School, Shadbagh, Lahore beat Government Model High School, Khanpur, 25-15, 25-8.

Government High School, 202 RB Gatti beat Government High School, Civil Aviation, Mianwali, 31-25, 25-15.

The organizers failed to compile the results of the athletics events held at the Punjab Stadium.

According to a brief result, Madeeha of Lahore Board won two gold medals in the 100m race and long-jump.
