LAHORE: Central Punjab fast bowler Naseem Shah has been withdrawn from the ongoing National T20 Cup after the player complained of a niggle in groin.

According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday, Naseem, who earned a chance to play international cricket at the age of 16, has been replaced by paceman Waqas Maqsood.

Naseem, 17, will now report at the National High Performance Centre where the PCB medical panel will carry out a detailed and complete investigation on his injury.

Some experts had already predicted that playing international cricket at a tender age of 16 could make right-armer Naseem injury prone if he was not played with appropriate intervals.

A detailed medical report will now confirm if Nasim will be available for the home ODIs and T20 series against Zimbabwe being held from Oct 30 to Nov 10.
