GUJRAT: The University of Gujrat Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shabbar Atiq has suspended varsity’s director press, media and publications Sheikh Abdul Rasheed.

The suspension has been made under the Peeda Act for the period of 90 days in the light of a decision of the syndicate.

Mr Rasheed had been charged with allegations of attaching fake documents of experience along with his job application for the slot of director media as another candidate for the slot had challenged the appointment more than six years ago.

The probe into the allegations continued for many years by the varsity administration as well as the chancellor office after which the matter was fixed for decision by the syndicate.

However, sources said that the syndicate despite having recommendations by the probe team for the termination of the officer from the director’s post, had given another chance to him by only suspending him for three months.

The VC, in his notification issued on Sept 14, ordered the suspension of Mr Rasheed, directing him to mark his attendance in the VC office during the period of suspension.
