ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have joined hands to promote tax culture and tax awareness in educational institutions of Islamabad.

In this regard, a letter of understanding (LoU) was signed by FDE Director General Zia Batool and Chief (FATE) FBR Ayesha Farooq on Wednesday.

“In line with the vision of the prime minister for promoting taxation system in the country, a special signing ceremony of LoU between FDE and FBR was held in the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training,” says a press release issued by the education ministry.

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, Parliamentary Secretary Wajija Akram Khan, FBR Chairman Javed Ghani, Federal Secretary Farah Hamid Khan, Additional Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani and others were present.

The LoU shall serve to define and detail the terms and conditions to foster a positive taxation culture and awareness among students and teachers through different sets of activities, skills and experiential learning for making them responsible citizens.

FBR will educate and train 220,000 students and 7,500 teachers through taxation syllabus, training sessions and seminars.

It will also provide experiential learning opportunities on and off campus for personal and professional development of the students and teachers.

According to the LoU, the FDE shall arrange tax awareness campaigns and walks in coming months all over Islamabad.
