TAXILA: Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) has decided to observe Independence Day as the day of planting trees.

A tree plantation drive at the Askari Cement Plant near Wah, was inaugurated by retired Brig Pervaiz Iqbal Malik. Speaking at the ceremony, he said: “Over the last one year, Fauji Cement Company Limited has undertaken massive tree plantation around the plant.”

He said that FCCL always takes “serious responsibility towards the environment.” In an effort to highlight the importance of environmental conservation, he said that approximately 10,000 fruit trees among others were planted.

The same number of trees were distributed to adjacent villages to contribute towards making the country greener and environment friendly, he said, adding the Clean Green Pakistan drive was bound to reduce the effects of adverse weather.

The senior management of FCCL and employees will participate in the largest tree plantation drive in the country’s history, he added.
