ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reversed its earlier decision to auction confiscated millions of cigarette sticks of foreign origin.

An official announcement issued on Friday said the auction has been stopped on the plea that the packing of smuggled cigarettes did not comply with the national health regulations.

Earlier, the FBR directed its field formation to hold the auction of cigarettes to raise money.

As per conditions imposed by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, warning of serious health hazards must be printed both graphically as well as textually in Urdu to beware the general public.
