KARACHI: A Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, official was injured and their mobile van was slightly damaged in a ‘cracker’ attack on the vehicle of the paramilitary force in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Wednesday, officials said.

They added that a Rangers mobile was attacked when it was on patrol and stopped at a puncture shop in Khair Mohammad Goth near Kamran Chowrangi in Block 5 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

“Total four officials of Pakistan Rangers in a mobile were on their routine duty when they stopped at the shop to get one of the tyres fixed,” said an official at the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station.

“As the officials were waiting for the tyre to get fixed, two men on a motorbike emerged and threw a cracker inside the vehicle which exploded within seconds leaving one of the officials injured.”

The rear end of the vehicle and its seats were damaged in the attack. The motorcyclists sped away after the attack setting off fear and panic in the area, he added.

“The injured official has been identified as Hawaldar Mohammad Hussain, who sustained minor wounds. He has been moved to hospital for treatment while efforts are being made to trace the people and their motive for the attack,” said the official.
