UMERKOT: A man was picked up here on Sunday after a video showing a woman with tattered clothes, bleeding from her head and running to safety went viral on the social media. The video suggested that she was subjected to torture by three persons over a property deal.

The woman, Bhushra Khaskheli, was led to the women police station in Umerkot by some onlookers and sympathisers.

After registering an FIR, the police picked up Raboo for interrogation. Urs Kharat later surrendered himself before police to facilitate an inquiry into the matter.

Giving her statement at the police station, the woman, a resident of the Malkani petrol pump area located along Umerkot-Chhachhro road, said she had purchased a plot on an instalment basis from its owner, Urs Kharat. She said the man along with two of his associates, Raboo and Qayyum, subjected her to intense torture on Sunday for failing to make payment of instalments on time.
