QUETTA, Sept 4: Arch rivals Jamalis and Khosos have ended the politics of rivalry in Jaffarabad district and reconciled by nominating joint candidates for district nazim, naib nazim and four tehsil nazims.

The elders of the Jamali and Khoso tribes led by former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and ex-speaker Balochistan Assembly Mir Zahoor Hussain Khoso shook hands for the first time in four decades and decided to cooperate for the betterment of the people of the area.

Reliable sources said that the former chief justice of the Balochistan High Court, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, was stated to have played a major role in reconciling the two tribes in Jaffarabad district.

According to a mutual understanding between both the tribes, the district nazim would be from the Jamali tribe whereas the naib nazim would be from the Khoso and Jamali tribesmen would nominate the tehsil nazims for Jhatpat, Usta Mohammad and Ghandakah while Khoso tribesmen would nominate the tehsil nazim for Suhbatpur.

Mr Zafarullah and Mr Zahoor, while expressing satisfaction over the electoral alliance between the two tribes, told newsmen on Saturday that all elected representatives would strive to facilitate the local population with basic amenities.

They said that with the passage of time this unity between both the tribes would be strengthened all the more.

Mr Zahoor clarified that the mutual understanding between the two tribes was confined to the local bodies’ arrangement and had nothing to do with their political outlook as every tribe had its own political considerations.
