RAWALPINDI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is continuing its disinfection and sterilising campaign at airports across the country as a part of measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Disinfection of airports is being carried out on a daily basis but the sterilization process is conducted throughout the day at big airports.

Spokesman for Aviation Division Abdul Sattar Khokhar told Dawn that disinfection was being carried out at all airports on a daily basis whether flight operations continued partially or not.

“Specialised sanitisation and disinfection teams are spraying floors, railings and door handles, elevators and baggage conveyor belts while hand sanitisers have also been placed at different places.”

He said the airport authorities had been doing all that under the guideline of World Health Organisation (WHO) to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Police offices and different areas of garrison city also sprayed with disinfectants

“We are taking no chance and taking all possible measures to combat the spread of coronavirus. Disinfection of Skardu airport is being carried out on a daily basis and the same is continuing at other airports,” he said.

Separately, the Rawalpindi police have also launched a disinfection and sanitisation campaign in its offices, police stations, lock-ups and other establishments.

A police spokesman said the campaign will cover all police establishments, including police stations, police vehicles and lock-ups.

Besides provision of gloves and masks, the police have also been provided sensitisers and directed to keep the police stations clean. Compressed machines and disinfectant sprayers are used to sensitise police stations.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 sprayed different residential areas, Pakistan Carriage Factory and the railway station with disinfectants on Friday.

Specialised teams also covered different city areas such as Circular Road, Kashmir Colony, Askari Cement Wah, Sir Syed Chowk and its surrounding areas.

The Rescue 1122 teams also conducted chlorine spray at the railway carriage factory, Dhoke Syedan Chowk and Garooti Stop, Railway Road Taxila, Glass Factory Chowk and its surrounding areas.
