KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Haleem Adil Shaikh has condemned the Sindh government for sudden transfers of certain police officers and said that it appeared that the Murad Ali Shah-led set-up was afraid of “brave” police officers.

He also slammed the provincial ministers and advisers for what he called spreading disinformation instead of providing accurate information to the people.

Referring to the cases of transfer of police officers like SSP Azfar Mahesar, SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed, DIG Khadim Rind and SP Mustafa Korai, he claimed that the Sindh government was ‘afraid’ of brave police officers like A. D. Khoja.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday at the Insaf House along with PTI MNA Jay Parkash and MPA Ali Aziz, Karim Bux Gabol and others, he praised Inspector General of Police Dr Kaleem Imam for taking a bold stand against the abrupt dismissal of his officers.

The parliamentary party leader of the PTI in the Sindh Assembly claimed that recent press conferences of Information Minister Saeed Ghani and Law Adviser Murtaza Wahab were ‘plain lies’.

He asked why the police were seen intimidated in Sindh and why police officers were afraid. He said that it appeared that the Sindh government did not need good and honest police officers.

Referring to the sudden transfer of former Shikarpur SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed, the PTI leader said that his crime was that he was a member of the joint investigation team against former SSP Rao Anwar and now Shikarpur district was left in a state of lawlessness.

“This is the same district from where a singer was kidnapped and where cases of karo-kari are on the rise,” he said, adding that Dr Rizwan had told the truth that local PPP leaders were not happy when he took action against bandits.

Haleem Adil said that the patrons of dacoits and criminals would also be arrested soon.

He said now that Sindh government was so afraid that it had banned police officers from issuing media statements.

He said that the information minister said that Punjab had demanded the services of Dr Rizwan while the fact was that the Sindh government had surrendered his services back to the federal government.

Similarly, he said SSP Azfar Mahesar, DIG Khadim Rind and SP Khalid Mustafa Korai were also removed by the Sindh government.

‘Illegal advisers’

He said the law adviser Wahab talked only on the basis of written notes handed to him.

He claimed that the Sindh government had illegally appointed advisers. “We will go the apex court against these illegal advisers,” he added.

He said the PPP did not remove any minister despite rising cases of AIDS, death of people because of hunger and other diseases and incidence of dog-bite cases in the province.

He said he would continue to raise his voice for the rights of Sindh.

He said about “500 corrupt officers of the Sindh government” were on bail.
