MIANWALI: On the complaint of the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Mianwali District Health Authority, the city police registered a case on Wednesday against former deputy district health officer Dr Sher Samand for fraud, forgery and forged documents.

Dr Samand presented his MBBS degree from the Kirghistan University along with a PMDC registration certificate at the time of his recruitment, which turned out to be fake in a verification process.

The health department suspended him from service and held an inquiry under the PEEDA Act of 2006, which also proved him guilty of the crime.

The department dismissed him from service and ordered the CEO to get registered a case against him besides recovering the salaries drawn by him. The department also looked into the record of his patients treatment.

The police have yet to arrest him.
