Garbage politics

Published September 22, 2019

KARACHI is at its worst. I have never seen Karachi in such a dire strait. We are taxpayers and look what we get — heaps of garbage, a swarm of flies, overflowing sewerage, potholes on roads. Conditions are worse than that of an encroached ‘kachi abadi’.

Whether provincial government takes the charge or the mayor or the federal government under whatever article of law, we do not care. What we taxpaying Karachites want is a clean and liveable Karachi.

We hear sermons and lectures on paying taxes and fulfilling our national obligations but what do we get in return? Please compare our country to others and check what facilities they provide to their taxpaying citizens.

We have all the right to ask for accountability of all the tax money collected from us, especially in Karachi.

We don’t know who is that powerful, sincere and honest person who can bring back the glory of Karachi and make it liveable again.
