LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday disallowed PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz to have home-made food.

A source told Dawn the NAB had withdrawn the facility of allowing home-made food to Ms Maryam on the order from the ‘top’. “From now on she will have food prepared at the NAB headquarters at Thokar Niaz Beg,” he said, adding she would be given meal in prison as per jail manual.

The PML-N has criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan for not allowing Maryam home-made food in the NAB custody. This week the government denied Hamza Shahbaz the facility of home-made food in Kot Lakhpat jail.

“By denying home-made food to Maryam and Hamza in prison, selected Prime Minister Imran Khan has again proved that he is a small man,” PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb said.

What's with the unending demand for special treatment? Suppose tomorrow all 'genuinly' old or unwell prisoners move court for ACs, special food etc.

If they want home made food they should not be in jail. They should be treated like other inmate. Ex home minister and finance minister of india never demanded any special privilege.

Why such a fuss about home made food for Maryam Nawaz-Safdar? Many prisoners get food from their homes. Is this just a petty way for NAB to assert itself and bully political opposition? Shame.

@Fastrack, actually for your information, many prisoners in jails get home cooked food . Not just political prisoners but also ordinary ones. So I don't see why NAB is making such a fuss about this.

The Indian High Court also did not allow food from home forvthe ex-minister Chidambaram. Judge said same food for every prisoner.

Good decision by NAB. Our public trusted these so called leaders and what they GAVE in Return? Money laundering and looting of our resources. Pakistan is more poor today and under debt. All the loans Nawaz Sharif and zardari secured from other countries were used to by their personal properties in England and Daubie. Keep these thieves in jail, confiscate their properties and sell to recover looted wealth.
