KARACHI: Majlis-i-Wah­datul Muslimeen has asked the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security and provision of all required facilities for azadari congregations during Muharram.

MWM Pakistan deputy secretary general Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi made this demand addressing a press conference at the party’s provincial Wahdat Secretariat here on Friday.

He also called for removal of heaps of garbage and sewage around and near mosques, Imambargahs and routes of azadari processions forthwith. The MWM leader anno­unced Azadari Cell to facilitate mourning congregations during Muharram. Ali Hussain Naqvi and Chaudhry Azhar Hassan will lead the cell at MWM Sindh secretariat. Allama Ahmed Iqbal condemned targeted murder of Dr Askari Haider in Karachi.

He said terrorists continue to escape capital punishment despite killing hundreds of Shia doctors and other professionals and notables.
