RAWALPINDI, July 28: Adeel Ahmad struck twice to help PTCL enter the National Challenge Cup soccer semifinals with a 3-0 victory over KPT at Army Stadium on Thursday. PTCL and Pakistan Army advanced to the last four from Group-II of the preliminary round, while Wapda and KRL gained the semifinal berths from Group-I held in Faisalabad.

Adeel, with eight goals, is at top of list. PTCL were tied Army on points table in the preliminary round with 12 points, with soldiers still to play another game. PTCL led 1-0 at lemons with Adeel grabbing lead in the fourth minute. He slotted home his second seven minutes later. Burhan Ali netted in the 50th minute, finding the target from close range.

KPT managed seven points in five matches and were eliminated along with National Bank who also have a game to play. Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, KESC took third position in Group-I, outplaying Pakistan Navy 3-0.

KESC managed nine points in five matches, while Navy secured six points in as many matches. The top two positions in the Group are held by Wapda and KRL. Leading 1-0 at halftime, KESC converted a spot kick through Akbar in the 45th minute, while Moosa increased the lead in the 58th minute.

Javed completed the tally in the 69th minute.
