GUJRANWALA: The cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has traced 52 travel agents and mobile phone shop owners for allegedly registering smuggled cell phones and formed teams to arrest them.

Cyber crime wing in-charge Aasif Iqbal told newsman that a number of people submitted application to the deputy director, alleging that some fraudulent elements have registered smuggled mobile phones by using their passport numbers. After investigation, it came to know that some travel agents and mobile phone shop owners were involved in the fraud.

Mr. Aasif said the wing had arrested eight people involved in registering the smuggled mobile phones by using the passport number of Umra pilgrims and made a list of 52 travel agents and mobile phone shop owners allegedly involved in registration of smuggled phones.

“The record is being checked. More than 5,000 mobile phones have been registered illegally causing a loss of millions to the treasury. Teams have been formed to arrest the suspects,” he said.
