KOHAT: Adviser to the chief minister on education, MPA Ziaullah Bangash, inaugurated work on Rs230.55 million degree college and seven solarisation projects of water pumps in the tribal subdivision of Darra Adamkhel on Thursday.

The college project would cost Rs198.55 million while the solarisation would be completed of seven water pumps with a cost of Rs32 million in Khewakhel, Mashokhel, Mehdi and other areas.

He performed the ground-breaking of college in Arakhel and solarisation in Noor Ali Kallay area of Darra Adamkhel which was attended by the elders and officials from merged areas of Kohat and Peshawar.

He announced that road of Arakhel would be constructed on priority. He said that during last six months all targets had been set and a 10-year development plan for the merged tribal areas had been completed. He said that special attention was being paid to education, health, water supply, communication and distribution of health cards to the tribesmen.

He added that 2,400 jobs of teachers from the tribal areas had been advertised to fill the vacant posts.

COUNCIL SESSION: Members of the district council here on Thursday presented resolutions about removing the reservations of surveys by the oil exploration companies in Gumbat tehsil and shortage of injections in the health centres for treating patients of leishmaniasis.

The members also took up the issues of spending the revenue generated by Bilitang town in the area and discussed the utilisation of district fund and drilling of hand pumps inside the boundary walls of houses instead of streets.

District councillors Matiullah Shah, Karamat Ali Shah, Mohammad Iqbal and district nazim Naseem Afridi took part in the debate.
