QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to form a steering committee to monitor the development projects launched in the province under the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

In a letter sent to the prime minister, the chief minister said the federal government was working on various development projects in Balochistan under the PSDP that needed to be monitored for their timely completion and maintaining the quality of constriction in the larger interest of the province.

Proposing formation of a steering committee at the provincial level, Mr Alyani said the federal government was giving special attention to the development of Balochistan and that provincial authorities wanted these projects to benefit the people as soon as possible.

He suggested that the steering committee should have Balochistan chief secretary Dr Nazeer Akhtar as its chairman and include others such as members of the planning division, planning and development additional chief secretary, and representatives of the National Highways Authority, Southern Command, Gwadar Port Authority and the Quetta Electricity Supply Company.

The chief minister asked the prime minister to order the Planning Commission to issue a notification regarding the establishment of the steering committee.
