ISLAMABAD, July 5: The government on Tuesday contradicted a news report that matters relating to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif came under discussion with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz during President Pervez Musharraf’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia. A government spokesman said the report published in a section of press was totally false and misleading.

He also denied a news item that the Saudi leadership was facilitating a ‘deal’ between the government of Pakistan and Nawaz Sharif. There was no mention of the Nawaz Sharif case by any of the government officials on either Saudi or Pakistani side during the president’s visit, the spokesman added.

“Leave aside discussion, there was not even a mention of his name”, the spokesman said.

He said that President Musharraf discussed bilateral relations, restructuring of the OIC, UN reforms, the situation in the Middle East and other issues of common concern with the Saudi leadership.—APP
